In a beautiful building in the 7th arrondissement, this small flat was in its original state. Small bathroom with a claw-foot bathtub, poorly fitted kitchenette, low mezzanine floor that did not allow you to go underneath without lowering your head, damaged original parquet floor, electricity to be replaced, etc.
As the flat was not insulated from the floor below, we chose to insulate the floor with a light screed before laying a new parquet floor. Changing the mezzanine by using metal profiles (thinner than the original wood) allowed us to gain precious centimeters. The high ceilings and the numerous full-height windows allow a lot of light to enter. Skylights were installed between the kitchen/bedroom and the living room to enlarge the space while maintaining a certain intimacy between the different spaces. A real kitchen and a modern bathroom have been installed.
